Shoulder Injuries

Shoulder injuries are common and can affect people of all ages, whether through sports, physical activity, or everyday movements. The shoulder is one of the most mobile joints in the body, but this flexibility makes it prone to instability and injury.

Shoulder injuries can range from mild strains to more complex conditions that require medical intervention. Proper diagnosis and treatment are essential for full recovery and long-term shoulder health.

Common Shoulder Issues

Injuries can impact any of the following structures:

Shoulder dislocations and subluxations: Complete or partial displacement of the shoulder joint, often caused by trauma or extreme movement

Rotator cuff tendinopathy/tears: Injury to the group of muscles and tendons surrounding the shoulder joint, commonly resulting in pain and weakness.

Glenoid labral injuries: Damage to the cartilage rim surrounding the shoulder socket, which can cause pain and instability.

Adhesive capsulitis (frozen shoulder): A condition causing stiffness and pain due to inflammation of the shoulder capsule.

Biceps injuries: Strains or tears in the biceps tendon, which helps stabilize and move the shoulder.

AC joint injuries: Damage to the acromioclavicular joint, typically caused by falls or direct impact.

GHJ osteoarthritis: Degeneration of cartilage in the glenohumeral joint, leading to stiffness and pain.

Pectoralis (pec) injuries: Strains or tears of the chest muscles affecting shoulder mobility and function.

Nerve entrapments: Compression of nerves around the shoulder, leading to pain, tingling, or weakness.
