Osteoarthritis Management
Osteoarthrosis, also known as osteoarthritis, is the most common form of arthritis and involves the gradual breakdown of cartilage, the smooth tissue that cushions the ends of bones in a joint. As cartilage wears down over time, bones may rub against each other, leading to pain, stiffness, swelling, and reduced joint mobility.
Arthrosis/Arthritis most often affects weight-bearing joints such as the knees, hips, and spine, but can also impact the hands and other joints. While osteoarthrosis is more common with aging, it can also result from joint injury, overuse, or genetic factors.
Although there is no cure, symptoms can be effectively managed with a combination of physical therapy, exercise, weight management, medications, joint injections (including corticosteroid injections, PRP injections and Hyaluronic Acid injections), and, in some cases, surgical options such as joint replacement. Treatment is most effective when combined with non-drug approaches like physical therapy, weight management, and activity modification, tailored to the patient’s specific needs and lifestyle.
